Primadophilus Bifidus

An enteric coated acidophilus supplement which helps increase friendly bowel bacteria. This probiotic is specifically for people 30 years & over, as well as pregnant women. Ideal for after antibiotic use & if you have thrush, candida or bowel problems.

Brand: Nature's Way

Pack Size: 90 Capsules

Common Uses: Restore the balance of friendly intestinal bacteria, by using a probiotic product such as Primadophilus. A probiotic should always be taken while on or after taking antibiotics. This product is also beneficial to be taken if you have diarrhoea, constipation, food poisoning and gastro intestinal upsets. Many other conditions may benefit from probiotics including: any digestive tract disorder including Crohns, irritable bowel (IBS) leaky gut, diverticulitis, polyps, candida, ulcers, prolapse, as well as with thrush & urinary tract infections.

Suggested Dosage: One capsule per day after meal. For an intensive treatment that can be increased to three caps per day after two weeks.

Health Information: What is Primadophilus? Primadophilus is a probiotic supplement range providing unique age specific blends of different beneficial gut bacteria including Lactobacillus acidophilus, lactobacillus rhamnosus, lactobacillus reuteri, bifidobacterium breve, bifidobacterium longum and Bifidobacterium infantis. Under normal conditions trillions of these beneficial bacteria are found in the human intestines. They help maintain good health by producing certain vitamins and digestive enzymes (including lactase for digesting milk products), assisting the gut immune system, controlling cholesterol absorption and preventing the infiltration and overgrowth of harmful micro-organisms in the intestine. Why take Primadophilus? Prescription drugs, especially antibiotics taken to kill off bacterial infections, aren't selective enough and also destroy the essential beneficial bacteria in the intestines. Long term antacid use, a diet high in refined sugars and low in fibre will also reduce their numbers. The first signs of the "die off" of beneficial bacteria can present as oral or vaginal thrush, a yeast over growth such as candida albicans, a persistent nappy rash, bloating and or chronic flatulence. Later, malabsorption of minerals and a lack of b vitamins might present themselves clinically with symptoms including anaemia, low energy, muscle spasms and a weakened immune system. Primadophilus - the patented enteric coated difference. Acidophilus and other beneficial bacteria live in the intestines rather than in the stomach. The patented enteric coating on Primadophilus capsules makes them unique and has been perfected over more than twelve years. They meet the standard as simulated in accordance with USP Method 2040 of the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP). This means that the capsule has to withstand stomach acidity for over two hours so that it passes intact into the alkaline environment of the intestines. When it arrives in the intestine, the coating must dissolve in less than 45 minutes to allow these naturally occurring bacteria to start colonizing where they are required. Therefore only 1 capsule per day is generally needed, although more can be safely used. Hypoallergenic formula Primadophilus is manufactured to the highest standards and is free of common allergens such as wheat, soy, yeast, gluten and chemical preservatives. Primadophilus is specially processed to be at least 98% free of dairy products and contains a neutral base of potato starch. Is primadophilus safe to take with antibiotics? Primadophilus is a safe and natural supplement that may be taken during and after antibiotic use. Probiotics will in No way decrease the effectiveness of antibiotics and may assist with preventing commonly associated side-effects, by rebalancing the ratio of good bacteria. Why Refrigerate? Because Primadophilus contains live active good bacteria that must be kept dormant until needed, these products must be refrigerated. Outside the intestine, in room temperature, all living probiotic bacteria slowly die, reducing their effectiveness over a period of several weeks. Primadophilus contains only those bacteria found to naturally and permanently colonise the intestine in large numbers. Age Specific Formulas. Different age groups have different intestinal needs. When you buy Natures Way Primadophilus products, you can feel confident that you are getting the correct probiotic formula for your needs. Each formula contains a special mix of bacteria for the specific age group. This formula is specifically for those who are 13 years old and over.

Ingredients: Each vcap contains: Bacterial cultures 71mg (5 billion CFU per capsule), Bifidobacterium breve, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus acidophilus. Other ingredients: Potato starch, plant-derived capsule, aqueous enteric coating (capsule), magnesium stearate, ascorbic acid.

Safety Information: Keep out of reach of children. Keep refrigerated to maintain potency. Please be aware that not all probiotic supplements are the same, comply with the above standards or effectively withstand stomach acidity. Also be aware that if you are using antacids or other drugs that reduce stomach acidity, enteric coatings may dissolve in the stomach instead of the intestine. So they are best taken separately from other medication. May contain a residual amount of milk or soy protein.
