Common Uses: Lysine may be effective against cold sores and herpes viruses. It stops the virus replicating itself which can reduce both the intensity of the symptoms and length of infection. Best taken at the first sign of a cold sore - when the tingling is first felt. Also aids in production of antibodies, hormones and enzymes. Lysine's ability to help in collagen formation and repair of tissue, assist in calcium absorption and help to build muscle makes it especially important for those recovering form surgery or sports injuries. Also may lowers serum triglycerides. Hair loss and lack of energy may indicate a need for L-Lysine.

Suggested Dosage: Adults: One to three tablets daily, or as professionally prescribed. NOTE: Vegetarians who avoid dairy products and rely on beans, nuts and grains for protein may take 1 to 6 tablets daily as an additional source of this essential amino acid.
